Review of Jersey City, New Jersey

Downtown Jersey City (Grove Street) - where is it
Star Rating - 5/5/2007
Formerly one of the best kept secrets in the New York metro area, the Grove Street neighborhood of Jersey City, NJ benefited from low crime, the lowest cost of living (esp. housing) within 15 minutes of Manhattan, a vibrant artistic and ethnically diverse culture, and surprisingly easy access to everything New York has to offer. 2007 - 2010 will see the completion of several massive “luxury” residential condo developments that will significantly increase the population of this already bustling area. I do hope the characteristic independent and family-owned restaurants and boutiques will be able to hold out against the influx of anonymous repetitive national franchises that inevitably follow such yuppie warehouses (yes, I’m a yuppie too), but only time will tell.

Streets are safe in the local area, though there are less safe areas within 5 blocks. Good...
